Convergence
Connecting the past, present, and future
Sesquicentennial Design Competition - Awarded First Place
In collaboration with Yazmine Carbajal (Industrial Design), Nico Hsu (M.Arch), and Melanie Iverson (Industrial Design)
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Campus
The concept of Convergence is to tie the entire campus together with a similar design language, using Kevin Lynch's theory of Urbanism to study the campus and its distinctive features. After analyzing each quad separately, a point was then focused on, and each quad was linked through unifying installations. Connecting all of these installations, is a pathway system following the sidewalks, that displays the University of Illinois’s greatest achievements over its rich 150 year history on either side.
